He attended Walnut Hills High School and was very active in marching and concert bands as well as community theater productions. Dr. Goldfarb has been married for 19 years and has 6 children ranging in age from 18 to 5. He is very active in his community. Dr. Goldfarb attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan focusing on both liberal arts and science. He joined the University of Michigan marching band drum line for two years and had the privileged of marching in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. After graduating in 1982 with a bachelor’s of science and a major in English literature, Dr. Goldfarb went overseas for two years to pursue an independent study program in Talmudic law. Returning to the states, he attended Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio.
Moving to Cleveland in 1993, Dr. Goldfarb began training at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Pediatrics followed by a fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Allergy & Immunology. He worked for Kaiser Permanente for 5 years becoming the regional chief of Allergy/Immunology during his tenure there.
As an allergist, Dr. Goldfarb saw many patients with chronic illnesses that were not allergic in nature. Many of his patients had seen multiple physicians who could not explain their problems or treat them effectively. Wanting to give hope to these patients, Dr. Goldfarb expanded his breadth of focus and developed a holistic approach to medicine. Seeing this as a better approach to chronic disease, he joined a colleague in private practice. During this time, Dr. Goldfarb also expanded his practice to include treatment for chronic pain. In 2005, he joined The Preventive Medicine Group in Westlake for two years before moving on to his own practice.
Dr. Goldfarb approaches each person as an individual and views his patients from a holistic perspective. Taking into account each patient’s unique circumstances enables Dr. Goldfarb to create a plan that is not only effective but also doable and affordable. “What patients need most are compassion and a listening ear. Often this can do more for someone than medications or other therapies.”
Dr. Goldfarb has done advanced training in laser therapy and electrical analgesia (a relatively new non-invasive treatment for pain.) He also incorporates many other modalities into his regiments such as diet, nutrition, bio-identical hormones, herbal and homeopathic therapies.
The real goal of Dr. Goldfarb’s practice is to educate his patients and empower them to take control of their health.
